This months featured artist

Gerard Kearney born in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia in 1965 is married with two children. He's been painting and drawing most of his life, and is self taught at an early age.

Using different medias through the years from pencil, charcoal , acrylic and pastels, but his favourite has always been oil. He uses oil paints for the unmatched vibrancy and the endless techniques which you can obtain with them.

Kearney advises...

Why mainly surf paintings? Simple, because I love the surf culture, especially from the 60`s and the 70`s which I mainly base my art on. This is the era I grew up in a simple time, a fun and cool time full of innocence, wonder and colour. That is why I chose this style , so every time I paint I can go back to those days I yearn to return to.

So I combined two of my loves and this is what I ended up with. My art has now started gaining popularity, not only from around Australia but from overseas as well with buyers from New Zealand, United States, England, Canada, Germany and even Ireland.
